Although our class does not have "homework," there are lots of ways you can enhance your children's classroom experience by what you do with them at home.
First of all, the most important thing our teachers want for your children is that you read to them every day. This is a key factor in literacy in children.
Here are some other ideas for ways you can encourage literacy and math concepts at home.
Literacy:
Letter writing
Shopping lists
Journal
Letter writing
Hangman (You can play hangman using our current class theme of Long Ago and Today.
Math Concepts:
Math Go Fish (Instead of looking for matching pairs, you "fish" for the number 12 or the number 8, etc. You try to get cards which add up to the number you are fishing for.)
Calendar Math (Look for monthly calendars in the Wednesday folders which have ideas for every day of the month.)
