February 6 Brown Bag Minutes

• Thank you to the parents who attended our January Cleaning Day. The classroom and shed look great. We will have another Cleaning Day at the end of February or early in March. If you need to make-up a cleaning day or if you never signed up for a cleaning day, please contact Rebecca.
  
  Thank you to the parents who drove on the class field trip to the Planetarium. The field trip was very informative and the children thought it was great.
  Thank you to Holly Wert for making the fantastic rockets with our kids! The children have really enjoyed them.
  
  Thank you to Delilah Sinek for organizing our JoJo’s Pizza fundraiser and thanks to all of you who came and supported our classroom. We don’t have an amount yet on what we raised but we should have it soon. The funds will go towards books for our classroom.
  
  Thank you to Tamara Wouters for organizing our recycling project and to all the families who sent in their recycling. We raised another $95 and protected our environment!
  
  We will have a mandatory meeting next week, Tuesday, February 12th, at 6:30 p.m. This meeting is for parents only, please arrange child care for your children.
  We will wrap up our unit on the Solar System by mid-March. There will be a “Robot Project” for the children to do at home. Information will be forthcoming. We will begin our unit on Insects in the spring.
  
  Kindergarten Extended Day will begin Wednesday, February 13th. Kinders have the option of remaining at school through the lunch period. They will have lunch with the older children at the lunch tables and they will go to recess with them on the big playground. They will be released at 1:15. This experience is meant to help prepare the kinders for 1st grade.
  
  Popcorn Factory will begin next Friday, February 15th. Children can sign up during the week to purchase popcorn and lemonade from the 2nd grade Popcorn Factory Business. At the end of the school year, the 2nd graders get to pick a charity to donate their funds to. Monica Henry is the parent coordinator for this activity. Thank you Monica!
  
  This Friday, February 8th, the 2nd graders are going to see the Disneyland Band Performance. This is a school wide field trip. Our 2nd graders will go on a bus with the rest of the Rolling Hills 2nd grade.
  
  As soon as the weather warms up, our 3rd grade will begin Consumer Math with Miss Judd. The kids will walk to Stater Brothers once a week and participate in various math activities. Mary Colmar and Nancy Schraeder have volunteered to go along – thank you!
  
  The first week of March (on Thursday or Friday) there will be a class field trip to watch our Drama Buddies’ performance of The Music Man. Look for a parent driver sign-up sheet soon.
  
  MP3 Parent Blog – Mary Bogan started this blog and updates it regularly. It has all the current classroom information and many useful links to outside resources. Be sure to check it out at rollinghillsmp3.blogspot.com.
  
  Open Enrollment for the Fullerton School District is underway. If your child is transferring in from another school, please go to your neighborhood school and complete your transfer paperwork.
  
  Authors List – Mrs. Mack sent home a list of suggested authors as a resource for parents.
  
  The MP3 Yard Sale has been postponed until early next fall due to the fact that all classroom funds must be spent in the same school year that they are brought in. We cannot fund raise during this school year for a play that will not take place until next year.
